Kirkland & Ellis will be losing its chief financial officer to Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) come September.

Nick Willmott will be leaving the Chicago-headquartered firm to head up the global business finance function at Herbert Smith Freehills, based in London.

"We are very pleased to have secured someone of Nick's calibre to this important position. He has the skill set and experience we are looking for and will play a critical role in the firm's ongoing integration work," said David Willis, joint CEO at HSF.

Prior to joining Kirkland & Ellis, Willmont held senior finance positions at Pepsi (1993-1999) and Jones Lang LaSalle (1999-2004). Much of his time at the latter focused on merger integration following the merger of LaSalle Partners and Jones Lang Wootton.

Willmont will be responsible for ensuring the structures, systems and processes of the business finance function continue to evolve, integrate and support the international law firm, which completed its merger on 1 October 2012.

HSF has also appointed Paul Roberts as finance director for UK, EMEA and Asia, based in London. He starts at the firm in July and was previously finance director at BDO.
