Pieter Riemer has been appointed Linklaters’ regional managing partner for Western Europe.

Riemer, who was until recently a member of the firm’s international board, takes over from Jean-Pierre Blumberg, who has reached the end of his term.

In his new role, Riemer will sit on the firm’s executive committee as the firm pursues its vision of becoming the leading global law firm. He will also continue his corporate/M&A client practice.

Blumberg will continue to be involved with senior management as co-head of global M&A.

Said Riemer: “I am looking forward to building on Jean-Pierre’s excellent leadership and am excited to continue his work in a time of significant challenges and opportunities for many of our clients. We will continue to invest across the European region in support of our strategy.”

Riemer, who has over 20 years of experience advising clients on corporate finance matters, joined Linklaters as a partner in 2005.

Both he and Blumberg have been involved in numerous high-profile M&A transactions in Benelux in recent years.
