International law firm Bird & Bird completes its merger with Danish firm Bender von Haller Dragsted (BvHD) today and establishes a presence in Denmark.

Bird & Bird Denmark will operate through BvHD's existing offices in Copenhagen and Skanderborg.

Former BvHD partner Jesper Langemark has been appointed managing partner of Bird & Bird Denmark.

BvHD’s previous managing partner, Peter Lind Nielsen, joins Bird & Bird as a partner and member of the practice’s executive committee. He continues as a media law lecturer at the Danish School of Media and Journalism.

Katarina Nordblom Åhlberg, managing partner at Bird & Bird Sweden, completes the executive committee for the Denmark practice.

Bird & Bird and BvHD first entered into a strategic cooperation agreement on 1 January 2012 to formalise their longstanding relationship.

“Over the past year we have had a cooperation agreement in place with BvHD which has allowed us to integrate both teams and build a strong relationship,” said David Kerr, CEO at Bird & Bird.

Added Lind Nielsen: “The cooperation agreement demonstrated that the two firms were an excellent fit."

The merger, which brings the number of Bird & Bird offices around the world to 25 and expands its presence in the Nordic and Baltic Sea regions, makes it the only international law firm with a presence in Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
