Muckle has today reported that it achieved 25 per cent year-on-year turnover growth in April to June, the first quarter of its new financial year.

The firm puts its strong performance down to its strategic focus on the northeast of England business community, its 'core heartland'.

"Over the next five years, our vision is to be the number one law firm in the northeast for business," said managing partner Jason Wainwright.

The firm completed 36 corporate deals with a total value of £347m since the beginning of its financial year.

The transactions have been spread across a range of market sectors, including manufacturing, technology, energy and pharmaceuticals.

In the past financial year, the firm invested in "a major financial software package", according to senior partner Hugh Welch, and brought in four new partners.

Muckle began its new financial year with the appointment of two additional partners, Anthony Evans to the corporate team and Charlotte McMurchie to the real estate litigation team.
