A new by-invitation-only global alliance of law firms with expertise in labour and employment law has launched today.

The Bectella network, which has 16 member firms, was conceived and founded by King & Spalding partner Kenneth A. Raskin.

"Participating firms have established reputations in the global legal community for their work in these practice areas," said Raskin.

The new network provides employee benefits, executive compensation, tax, employment and labour law advice.

Bectella will compete with the Ius Laboris alliance, which launched with five firms in Europe in 2001 and currently has 44 members in 44 countries.

Bectella says it currently covers 20 countries across five continents, but expects broader coverage in future. King & Spalding is the sole representative for both the US and the UK.

Participation in the alliance is by invitation only.
