International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has appointed Ian Ivory as head of corporate for Asia, effective 2 November.

Ian Ivory will be relocating to Hong Kong from Moscow, where he was head of English law at Goltsblat BLP for the past seven years.

"My experience in Moscow will… allow me to take advantage of the growing economic ties between Russia and China and further enhance our international offering," said Ivory.

Commented BLP's head of Asia, Bob Charlton: "Ian will bring in-depth knowledge of international markets, particularly emerging and high growth markets, and this perfectly aligns with our Asian strategy. We have seen increased client demand across Asia for cross-border transactional expertise."

Ivory, who has been with BLP for 17 years, was previously based in London, where he managed the private equity and venture capital team. He has expertise in cross-border M&A, joint ventures and corporate finance.

Ivory's appointment follows the firm's recruitment in May of a nine-lawyer team from boutique practice Haley & Co to expand its arbitration services in Hong Kong.
