Needing to become an overnight expert on trademark law was perhaps one of the most terrifying tasks I have faced to date. I have always been proud of the fact that I am somewhat of an all-rounder when it comes to law and legal practice; however, intellectual property was completely lost on me. Amanda Michaels’ A Practical Approach to Trademark Law was therefore a blessing.

It is both straightforward and comprehensive, allowing me to gain an understanding of this area of law quickly and with ease. The text focuses on the practical application of the legal rules and all legal commentary provided has been in order to supplement such understanding. As well as looking at the relevant statute law, chapter 8 looks at the common law of passing off thus providing a complete picture of the laws and remedies in place.
