In its own fashion this book is outstanding. Its author, Charles Foster, is a practising barrister. He has employed his well-honed forensic techniques to establish nothing less than the truth of the resurrection.Like any skilled advocate he has marshalled his facts with care.

He uses the device of two characters X and Y who argue, in turns, the case for and against the resurrection.

He refrains from any evaluation of these arguments preferring to let them speak for themselves and leaving the reader to choose between them.

In a modest preface,Mr Foster accepts that he is a Christian and claims no more than that he believes that the historical argument for the resurrection has been proved only on the balance of probabilities rather than beyond reasonable doubt.
