Considering becoming an ABS in 2013? ?Pioneer Bernadette Summers reviews her experience

I was in the office on 31 December finalising our year end and thinking about the same time last year, when I was waiting for the go ahead from the SRA to apply for our ABS licence. Our licence was granted in March 2012 and we have not looked back.

2012 was a positive year for JWS. Being one of the first licensed ABSs brought about a lot of publicity and has certainly raised the profile of our firm. I am also surprised at how different I feel now that I am a partner.  

I had always said that my role would not change by being a partner. It has not. However, the way I feel about my position has changed. I have always been committed to the firm, as any manager in any business would be, but since being a partner, JWS is my practice and I am excited by the prospect of what we can do next.
