The firm expands its Media & Entertainment, Digital Commerce, and IP Litigation capabilities in Germany with 11 new lawyers

Fieldfisher, a prominent European law firm, has significantly augmented its Media & Entertainment and Digital Commerce offerings in Germany by recruiting 11 lawyers, including four partners. This strategic move reinforces the firm's expertise in digital business models and fortifies its international presence in media, technology, and intellectual property (IP) sectors.

The addition of four partners—Dr. Martin Diesbach and Dr. Gerd Hansen in Media & Entertainment, along with Elisabeth Noltenius and Dr. Julia Schafdecker in Media and Digital Business—underscores Fieldfisher's commitment to delivering top-tier legal services tailored to the evolving needs of the digital landscape. Supported by an adept in-house lawyer, copyright, and media law expert, as well as two associates from international units, this formidable team is poised to make significant contributions to Fieldfisher's advisory capabilities.

Dr. Gerd Hansen's background as the former Legal Director Content Production at ProSiebenSat.1 and Head of Legal Affairs at Sky Studios Germany underscores the depth of expertise within the new team. Their arrival bolsters Fieldfisher's market position in the media sector, with a dedicated team of 15 lawyers in Germany alone, offering comprehensive advice tailored to clients' needs.

Internationally, the new additions seamlessly integrate into Fieldfisher's cross-practice Media and Entertainment group, comprising over 45 lawyers across Europe. This collaborative approach enables the firm to provide holistic guidance on media financing, video games, e-sports, film and television production, advertising, marketing, and more.

Moreover, the expansion strengthens Fieldfisher's litigation capabilities, particularly in IP litigation, with the addition of partner Dr. Sascha Pres and his team. Their integration enhances Fieldfisher's prowess in tech litigation, augmenting the firm's ability to navigate complex legal challenges across various sectors.

Commenting on the strategic move, Philipp Plog, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher in Germany, highlighted the firm's focus on growth in the digital media segment and its alignment with technology and litigation domains. The newly assembled teams bring exceptional expertise that complements Fieldfisher's existing advisory offerings.

Dr. Martin Diesbach expressed excitement about joining Fieldfisher, citing the firm's international positioning and dynamic culture. Dr. Sascha Pres echoed this sentiment, emphasising the synergies between their agile team and Fieldfisher's integrated international unit.

Stephen Salzman, Head of Fieldfisher's International Entertainment Group, emphasised the firm's long-term vision of establishing a Pan-European Media & Entertainment practice. The addition of top-tier practitioners in Germany marks a significant step toward realising this vision, facilitating seamless collaboration across jurisdictions.

With Fieldfisher X, the firm's dedicated technology unit, offering scalable legal services and mass litigation defense, Fieldfisher continues to innovate in the legal industry. The firm's full-service cross-departmental media and entertainment practice underscores its commitment to providing comprehensive legal solutions tailored to clients' needs in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
